Campus Life

Saint Joseph High School developed a new campus with state of the art facilities built in 2012, situated in downtown South Bend overlooking the city skyline. Saint Joe features vibrant student life rich with tradition where students can grow in a supportive, positive, kind, joyful, and inclusive community.

Annual community traditions include:

The Diaper Drive, in which the Right to Life Club organizes a school-wide donation of baby diapers delivered by a chain of students passing diapers hand-over-hand from Saint Joe to the Women's Care Center across the street.

The Hunger Bowl, an all-out competition with Marian High School in the week leading up to the annual football game (The Holy War) where students bring canned food for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The winner of this sibling rivalry benefiting a worthy cause  is announced at the football game.

The Thanksgiving Food Drive organizes hundreds of Thanksgiving meals including turkey, stuffing, and all the trimmings. For the past 30 years the Black Box Theatre is overtaken by a student assembly line preparing boxes full of holiday fare and distributed via a drive-up service line outside of the school.

Each month Saint Joseph High School celebrates students and faculty alike–one male student, one female student, and one faculty/staff member–through Community Awards presented at All-School Mass. Recipients are nominated by their peers and recognized for their service to the Saint Joe community.

Senior Class traditions include the Senior Mass & Breakfast, Senior Dinner, a euchre tournament, ice skating, creating a class t-shirt, signing the senior banner, and painting uniforms on the last day of school.

PASTORAL MINISTRY

Pastoral Ministry, along with the Theology Department and school chaplains, seeks to help students realize and respond to this call to live life to the fullest by showing them that life with Christ is not dull and boring, but full of joy and adventure.
