What is an Athletic Trainer?

Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs) are recognized health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.  In addition to being on the sidelines, they work closely with our physicians in the Saint Joseph Health System Sports Medicine Institute. This partnership allows the Athletic Trainers to have direct oversight of an injury from start to finish. They provide injury and prevention education for the health and safety of the athlete as well as emergency care, rehabilitation, and treatment plans when needed so athletes can safely and quickly get back in the game. Certified Athletic Trainers at Saint Joseph High School are provided by Saint Joseph Health Systems.
