Curriculum

In the heart of our building, adjacent to the Commons, the Media Center exists as a gathering place for students, teachers, and visitors and a hub for continued learning.

In addition to the physical books housed in the library, students and teachers alike can use the Sora app to access audio novels for classes and see the expanded library of books available to us beyond the school's walls.

The Media Center space provides support for teachers in the form of additional study rooms within the library, as well as the main library serving as additional academic space.

Librarian and Media Specialist Mrs. Leslie Brenner maximizes the use of the Saint Joe Media Center by hosting book fairs and other academic events/activities throughout the year.

When there is not a specific activity, Flex period is to be used for studying, homework, and academic support. Students are expected to bring school work to their classroom and will use the period for academic purposes unless otherwise directed by the teacher. Students are encouraged to take advantage of faculty office hours during Flex Period for extra help, to ask questions, and to makeup tests, quizzes, etc.

The National Honor Society offers drop-in tutoring to any Saint Joe student who wants or needs help with a variety of subjects. This can be a one-time meeting or ongoing help throughout the year. Tutoring is available for the following subjects: English, Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calc/Trig), Science (Basic Science, Biology, Chemistry), Spanish, and Theology. The Learning Strategies program is designed to assist diverse learners in the achievement of their educational goals. We provide support to students who meet eligibility criteria due to medical conditions, specific learning disabilities, mild cognitive disabilities, and/or other health impairments. We also provide support to English Language Learners.

For students meeting the eligibility criteria, Learning Strategies works with students, parents, and teachers to develop an individual education plan that provides accommodations to best meet the individual student's academic needs.

The Bilingual Department serves to ensure language never stands in the way of learning, belonging, or success. We support students, families, and staff by providing interpretation, translation, cultural guidance, and academic support that embrace diversity and honor the richness of every language and heritage in our school community.
