 Finding That Extra Gear

In the morning, Culver Academies was golden at 6-0. They outpaced both Harrison and Saint Joseph in their head-to-head games, and waited to see whom they would face in an advantaged final. That proved to be Saint Joe, who squeaked by Harrison, 330-300. Inspired by that close call, Saint Joe found another gear and swept both of the subsequent games against Culver to win their sixth consecutive Rotary title.

Just as impressive was the fact that North White won their fifth straight Rotary title. Because there were one of only two schools in their class, the tournament was combined. So North White went toe-to-toe with the larger schools and held its own. Their match against Saint Joe was particularly gripping, as it came down to the last question before Saint Joe avoided the upset.

Harrison was outstanding in the Frosh/Soph Championship. This was the only division that allowed multiple teams per school, so Harrison fielded three teams, and the top two took the top two spots in the tourney. The "A" team was particularly strong in the double round-robin, averaging more than double the PPG of the other teams. Also, Anderson, a newcomer to Rotary, had a solid showing.
