WHAT AN OUTSTANDING SEASON !!!!

Saint Joe Hockey wins a second place award in the state tournament. Having watched our team throughout the season we realize we have a great team. We know we had the ability to bring home the first place award, it was a fight to the finish, but it did not happen. That disappointment cannot alter the accomplishments of the team this year.

Congratulations to our players and their families. You showed the area a quality program and a successful season. We are proud of you, the character you displayed, the work you put into your sport, and the highly skilled games you shared with us.

Hockey Team--More Than Just Outstanding Hockey Players

A trip to State Competition would be enough for celebration but add to that three players named to the Academic All-State Team and a Hobey Baker Character Award recipient.

Starting the list of notable accomplishments, Saint Joe is one of only thirteen hockey teams in Indiana to have a GPA of 3.0 or better. Lakeshore, Adams, Riley, and Valparaiso join Saint Joe in this elite company in our immediate area.

Academic All-State Team members must be seniors with a "B" cumulative GPA and a minimum combined score of 1500 on the SAT ll or 20 on the ACT. Saint Joe members are Al Harding, Robert Jamieson, and Ryan Sopczynski.

Al Harding is also the recipient of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. "Each Indiana high school varsity hockey program that is a member of the ISHSHA can honor one member of its team who best exemplifies the characteristics of sportsmanship and character demonstrated by the legendary hockey player Hobey Baker, who played at Princeton and died before returning to the United States after serving as a fighter pilot in World War l." We are proud of Al for he represents the excellence that defines Saint Joe--Excellence in athletics, academics and character.
