| Saint Joseph’s is located on South Bend's northern edge, adjacent to the
University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, and Holy Cross College. SJHS
is accredited by the Indiana Department of Education and the North Central
Association and is also a member of the National Catholic Education Association.
The population consists of about 60 faculty, including half with Masters’
Degrees or beyond, and an enrollment of about 860 students, including 16%
non-Catholics and 17% minorities. MISSION STATEMENT Saint Joseph’s High School is a Catholic secondary school dedicated to tranforming students in heart and mind, preparing them to serve God, the Church and the world. |

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS To meet state requirements, students must earn 40 credits; at Saint Joseph's, this means a minimum of 48 credits (40 + 8 Theology). Usually, one semester of coursework equals one credit. Credits are distributed as follows: 8 Theology, 8 English, 6 Mathematics, 6 Social Studies, 6 Science, 3 Health & Physical Education, 1 Fine Arts, and 10 electives. AP AND HONORS COURSES Advanced Placement courses offered at Saint Joseph’s include English Language/Composition, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus AB and BC, Computer Science, US History, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, US Government, French Language, Spanish Language, and Statistics. Most of these courses earn honors credit, along with English I-II, American Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, PreCalculus, Calculus II, World History, French IV, German IV, Latin IV, and Spanish IV. GRADING SYSTEM Courses included in Grade Point Average are on an A-F scale with plusses and minuses assigned point value. Grades are weighted according to the level of difficulty of the course. Transcript grades not included are those which carry P/F [pass/fail], N [no credit], and W [withdrawn] grades.
